Our solar system
There are billions of galaxies in the ! It takes one second for a
universe. Each galaxy has got billions of solar human to freeze on Uranus!
systems! Everybody knows that, right? Well,
there’s more!
Our galaxy, the Milky Way, has got up to
400 billion stars, and one of them is the sun.
The sun is in the centre of our solar system ! You can it
around 1,320
and all the planets move around it. It is Earths inside
important for life on Earth because it gives us Jupiter!
light and heat. That’s big!
Our solar system has got eight planets, Also, Jupiter
not nine like we used to think: Mercury, is as heavy
Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus as 317 Earths!
and Neptune. Scientists don’t consider
Pluto a planet anymore, but a dwarf planet,
because it’s very small. So, the smallest
planet in our solar system is Mercury and the
biggest is Jupiter. Also, the closest planet to
the sun is Mercury, but it isn’t the hottest. The
hottest planet of all is Venus, but don’t think ! Sunlight travels at about 300,000 km/sec.
It takes about 8 minutes to reach the
you can sunbathe there: it has temperatures Earth and about four hours
of about 460 ºC! Neptune is the farthest to reach Neptune.
planet from the sun, and it is one of the
coldest planets of the solar system along
with Saturn and Uranus. Temperatures on
Neptune can reach -220 ºC!
