I was only six years old the first time I visited the zoo, but I still remember everything about it. Seeing
all the animals was an experience I’ll never forget. In my opinion, a visit to the zoo has educational value,
as it gives people, especially children, the opportunity to learn about animals and realise the importance
of protecting them. In addition, visiting the zoo is a chance for the whole family to be entertained – I still
remember how cute and funny the monkeys were!

I’m afraid I have to disagree with Dan_the_panda. The way I see it, humans don’t have the right
to keep animals in zoos for their own entertainment. Animals in zoos are not free and, in most cases, they
never return to the wild. What is more, when wild animals are kept in captivity, their behaviour actually
changes – for example, elephants become more aggressive – or they may develop health problems.

Personally, I feel sad when I see pictures of animals in cages, but it is true that some zoos create areas
that look like the animals’ natural habitats. In this way, zoos can, in fact, save animals that are in danger of
extinction, as they are a safe place for them to live and breed. I think that should be the purpose of zoos
