Keep on running!
Marathons have been popular since the first modern Olympics in
1896. At 42.195 km, the marathon is considered to be one of the
toughest running races an athlete can take part in. Today, most
of the world’s major cities such as New York, London, Athens and
Berlin hold marathons. For professional athletes marathons are
hard fought races but for others they have become fun events where
they try to complete the distance for charity or other reasons. Here
are a few marathon runners who hold records for different reasons.
