It’s a very special day for everyone. On their

birthday, children usually have parties and

a big cake with candles. Their friends and
family sing ‘Happy Birthday’ and give them
presents. Each country celebrates birthdays

in different ways.

In Denmark they put a flag outside the
child’s bedroom window. Parents also put
presents around the child’s bed at night
and the child sees them in the morning.

In Canada friends and family put
butter on the child’s nose for good

luck.

In the Netherlands children give sweets to 3
their classmates. The teacher also makes a
birthday hat for the birthday child.

In Argentina girls have a big birthday
party on their 15 birthday. At the

party, the birthday girl dances with
her father and friends.
