Are you a fan of gaming?
Did you know that there are people who
play computer games and get paid for it?
I sat down with Alex Puggle—game tester
at FunPro Gaming Company—and he told Alex Puggle
me all about his job!

Alex, I've never met a game tester before.
Can you explain what you do exactly?
Well, I play computer games and check for any problems
or bugs they might have. Then I suggest di ferent ways to
make the games better. It’s a fun job, but I have to play the
same game again and again, so it can get tiring and boring.
There are lots of interesting games out there, but I’ve
tested some less interesting ones too.
How long does it usually take you to complete a game?
It depends. Last month I tested a game called Heroes of
Albatross. It took me about three weeks to inish it. However,
I didn’t mind because it was really interesting!
How did you decide to become a game tester?
Well, computers have always been my thing. My parents
encouraged me to study computer science at university. I
wanted to become a software engineer, but when I inished
university and got the job at FunPro Gaming Company, I
realised I liked gaming more! You see, I have always been into
gaming. When I was a teenager, my parents used to complain
about how much I played, and they never let me play as much
as I wanted to. Now, I play all the time for work and for fun!
Any plans for the future?
Well, I’d also like to become a game designer, so at the moment,
I’m studying game design. Maybe I’ll make my own game one
day!
