WEDNESDAY, 15 FEBRUARY
Dear Diary,

I was leaving the shopping centre, and I was on my way to the
bus stop when I walked past a new soup kitchen with a sign in its
window: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. I’ve always wanted to volunteer,
so I went in to ind out more. I told them I was training to become
a chef. Then they asked me, ‘Could you tell us when you can
start?’ Of course, I answered, ‘As soon as possible!’ So, tomorrow
I’ll be at the soup kitchen! I’m so excited!

THURSDAY, 16 FEBRUARY
Dear Diary,
What an amazing day at the soup kitchen! At irst, it was a bit
di icult, because I didn’t know my way around the kitchen at all.
Thankfully, the other volunteers were very helpful and friendly.
Although I wasn’t expecting to cook anything by myself on my
irst day, they asked me to prepare lasagne and roast potatoes!
I was really happy about that! And tomorrow, I’m going to help
make the desserts!

MONDAY, 20 FEBRUARY
Dear Diary,
Today I chatted with some of the people who come to the soup
kitchen to eat. After learning more about their lives, it feels really
wonderful to know that I’m helping people who need it. And I’m
getting some experience working in a kitchen too.

WEDNESDAY, 22 FEBRUARY
Dear Diary,
Today was the BEST day ever! Gracy Miles came to the soup
kitchen, and I got to cook with her. I thought she would show
me how to make something, but it was the other way round!
‘Can you tell me what dessert you can make the best?’ she asked
me. I answered ‘Cheesecake. I can show you!’ I guess she liked
my cheesecake because she o fered me a job in her restaurant
(after I inish cookery school)! I still can’t believe it! I’m going to
work with my favourite celebrity chef!
